July & August 2026: Two Months, One Client, and a Whole Lot of Chaos

If someone had told us at the beginning of July that one client would keep our entire team running at full speed for the next two months, we probably would have believed them.

However, we probably wouldn’t have expected just how much would come our way.

Ultimately, July and August turned into two of the busiest months we’ve had at The Difference Digital. What started as a simple meeting with PIC Swarnam Gold Loan to discuss their plans for the coming months quickly turned into a fast-paced series of launches, campaigns, sporting events, productions, shoots, travel, social media content, and last-minute schedule changes.

And somehow, we had to make it all happen.

It Started With One Meeting

At the beginning of July, PIC Swarnam Gold Loan called us in for a meeting to discuss their plans for July and August.

Naturally, we walked into the meeting expecting to discuss a few upcoming campaigns. Instead, we walked out with a completely new set of challenges.

Specifically, one of the biggest announcements was the acquisition of Matara Investment Company, a microfinance business with a rich 42-year history. Pearl Isle Capital had acquired the company in April 2026, and the next step was to bring the business under the PIC banner as PIC Investments.

The transition was scheduled for the end of July, with the official launch activity taking place around 30-31st July.

That meant we had only a few weeks to build the communication and launch strategy around a completely new chapter for an established business.

The Challenge

To make the launch successful, we had to develop the entire launch campaign. This included creating a main brand video, producing two product videos focusing on tuk and bike financing, building anticipation on social media, and preparing content for the launch itself.

Normally, a project like this would involve a full-scale production with locations, actors, crew, equipment, and multiple shooting days. But we simply didn’t have the time.

So, we took a different route.

We Went Full AI

With the launch only a few weeks away, we decided to produce both the brand and product videos using AI.

First, the visuals were created through AI-based production. Meanwhile, the voice recordings were handled separately. As a result, this workflow allowed us to move much faster while still giving us the creative flexibility we needed for the campaign.

At the same time, we started creating social media content to build anticipation around the transition from Matara Investment Company to PIC Investments.

However, while we were deep into that process, another project that had been sitting on the calendar suddenly moved forward, forcing us to rethink the schedule once again

Freedom Cricket Academy: The Schedule Changes Everything

The Freedom Cricket Academy Tour of Sri Lanka was originally scheduled for August, which would have given us some breathing room.

However, during the second week of July, we were informed that the schedule had changed and the tour was being brought forward directly into July.

That meant we had to reorganize the team’s schedule almost immediately.

The matches were taking place in Kandy and Colombo, followed by the award ceremony at Pegasus Reef in Wattala. Consequently, we had to arrange the coverage schedule, coordinate the team, and prepare the social media content that needed to go out while the matches were happening.

The core challenge was that we were already working towards the PIC Investments launch at the end of July.

So, alongside the launch preparations, we were now managing another major project across multiple locations. The deadlines, locations, and content requirements were completely different, but the team working on them was largely the same.

It was a hectic stretch, but the team managed to keep both projects moving smoothly.

31 July: PIC Investments Launch

After weeks of planning, production, and social media buildup, 31 July finally arrived.

Part of our team went to the location the day before to prepare, while the rest arrived on the morning of the launch.

We weren’t there simply to document the event. Instead, we needed to capture the entire experience through photography, reels, drone coverage, live coverage, behind-the-scenes moments, and launch-day social media content.

The launch was the culmination of weeks of work, and we wanted to make sure we captured enough content to keep the momentum going even after the event itself was over.

By the end of the day, the launch was complete, but there was very little time to slow down. August had its own long list of commitments waiting for us.

Four More Events on the Calendar

PIC Investments wasn’t only launching a new business. They were also sponsoring four major events taking place in Sri Lanka:

  1. Freedom Cricket Academy Tour of Sri Lanka
  2. Asian Pacific Lions vs. Northampton Saints Tour of Sri Lanka
  3. Sri Lanka Basketball Federation’s national team campaign for the FIBA qualifiers
  4. AIQS Conference

The Freedom Cricket event had already forced us to reshuffle our July schedule, and the remaining events meant August was going to be just as demanding.

Asian Pacific Lions vs. Northampton Saints: One of the Highlights

The Asian Pacific Lions vs. Northampton Saints Tour of Sri Lanka became one of the most memorable parts of these two months.

It wasn’t just another event coverage assignment. It gave us great exposure both as a team and for the client, while allowing us to work around some incredible sporting personalities.

One of the first events we covered was the fireside forum, where we captured the event as well as the trophy and jersey displays.

The tour also included a charity cricket match featuring a mixed team of Sri Lankan cricket legends, Asian Pacific Lions, and Northampton Saints players. Our Sri Lankan Legends won, which gave us some time to meet the legends, take photographs with them, and enjoy a moment that felt less like work and more like a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

In addition, we covered a coaching session for schoolchildren, where the APL and Northampton Saints teams came together to coach young players. Seeing international players interact with young Sri Lankan cricketers and share their knowledge and experience was another genuine highlight of the tour.

The main match took place on 28 August, with Northampton Saints taking the win.

For us, the day was memorable for another reason too. We had the opportunity to meet some of the players, including Henry Pollock, Tommy Freeman, Alex Mitchell, and Chunya Munga from the Saints, as well as Jamie Henry, David Campese, and Will Genia from the APL side.

And yes, some of those signatures ended up on a T-shirt. Let’s just say that particular T-shirt is probably being treated like a trophy now.

Basketball Joins the Schedule

By the third week of August, we thought we had a pretty good idea of what the rest of the month looked like.

That changed when the basketball qualifiers came into the picture.

The Sri Lanka Basketball Federation’s national team campaign for the FIBA qualifiers suddenly needed coverage, so we added another production schedule to an already packed month.

We covered the sponsor announcement and prepared social media content that could be published around the matches as they were happening.

By this point, our carefully planned calendar had become more of a moving puzzle, with the team constantly adjusting schedules around new requirements.

28 August: Two Events, Two Locations

That same period brought one of our biggest scheduling challenges.

The Northampton Saints match was taking place on 28 August, while the AIQS Conference was being held at ICBT on the same day.

Since both events required coverage, we split the team between the two locations.

One team member handled the AIQS Conference while the rest of the team covered the Northampton Saints match. Once the conference coverage was complete, our team member made their way over to join the rest of the team at the match.

It was a good example of what the previous few weeks had taught us: with multiple events happening at the same time, flexibility was just as important as planning.

The Part We Haven’t Mentioned Yet

There’s another important part of this story.

When we say “one client,” it almost sounds like PIC Investments was our only client during July and August.

It wasn’t.

While all of this was happening, we were still running our regular client work. Other shoots were happening, other content needed to be created, other reels needed to be edited, and other deadlines were approaching.

So while one part of the team was at a PIC event, another could be shooting for a completely different client. Someone else could be editing, travelling to another shoot, or coordinating the next production.

There were plenty of moments when someone was probably asking: “Where is everyone?”

The honest answer was usually: somewhere else, working on something.

One shoot would finish and we’d head straight to another. A launch would be happening while another client needed content, and an event would end just as another production was waiting to begin.

It was busy, chaotic, and exhausting, but it was also exactly the kind of environment where a strong team proves what it can do.

Two Months We Won’t Forget

Looking back at July and August, it’s difficult to believe how much happened in such a short period.

We helped launch a new company, produced AI-powered brand and product videos, built social media campaigns, covered the Freedom Cricket Academy Tour across multiple locations, and covered an international rugby tour.

We worked around cricket legends and international sporting personalities, covered basketball and a major conference, and handled photography, reels, drone coverage, and live event coverage.

And we did all of that while continuing to manage our other clients and their regular content requirements.

It wasn’t just one big project. It was multiple projects happening simultaneously, across different teams and locations, with multiple deadlines and plenty of last-minute changes.

But that’s also what makes these months memorable.

Behind every finished reel, photograph, campaign, and event recap was a team of people working behind the scenes to make sure everything came together.

July and August were definitely crazy, but they were the kind of crazy that reminds you why you love what you do.

Two months, one client, countless projects, one very tired team – and somehow, we got it all done.
